Education Support Worker - Newton Aycliffe
Humankind Learning Centre is part of the national Humankind Charity, founded in Durham City in 1984. We have long and successful experience in meeting the Educational needs of young people within our Education Centre based in Newton Aycliffe. We run our popular Post 16 Study programme course for 16 to 19-year olds (16-25 SEND) and are looking for an experienced support worker to join our innovative and creative education staff team!
We work hard to support our learners to reach their full potential, and this role will work closely with the teachers to support the needs of targeted groups of learners including those with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP), providing person-centred support as set out in learners Individual Learning Plans (ILP) within a 1-1 or group setting. This includes working with learners to support their personal development including social and behavioural skill both inside and outside the classroom, as well as promoting positive emotional wellbeing and physical health.
The role will offer supervision for learners on work placements, break and lunchtimes and will be responsible for driving the Education Services’ minibus to collect learners on a morning and drop off learners in the afternoon or take learners on external visits.
This role provides a unique opportunity to work within a holistic and nurturing educational environment, to support vulnerable and complex learners to achieve not only their academic qualification, but build resilience, confidence and life skills.
Candidates will be recruited within the advertised range, please did not automatically expect initial recruitment to be at the top end, as this will depend on experience and enables progression in role through the Humankind development process.
