The County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service is a large substance misuse service providing support to individuals and their families who experience substance misuse issues. We have three main Recovery Centres located in Seaham, Bishop Auckland and Durham and we deliver interventions such as Needle and Syringe Programmes, medications and health assessments, psychosocial support and we also have a Recovery Academy and Aftercare team who deliver groups, breakfast clubs, peer support, learning and development activities and we also have a full time training team. 

Our HOPE team provides services into local hospitals and GP settings and our Criminal Justice teams provides interventions to individuals within the criminal justice system working closely with our criminal justice partners. 

We are looking for three Apprentice Support Workers to join our team this September, this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in working in Health and Social Care who would like to gain experience of working in a busy addictions service. Your days will be varied as you will have access to experience in all elements of our system. You will be supported on site to train in key interventions and gain the experience and evidence you need to complete your apprenticeship.  As the role also does require you to engage with study you must be willing to undertake an NVQ in Adult Care with a local college.  

Main duties of the role are defined within the job description and we are looking for people who have a natural empathy and are able to work with often vulnerable and complex people.
