Team reporting to  South Tyneside Adult Recovery Service (STARS) Volunteer Coordinator
Location Cookson House, South Shields
Brief description of project
South Tyneside Adult Recovery Service offers ways for local people with drug and alcohol problems to become free from their dependence. We also want to reduce the problems that substance misuse causes to families, friendships, workplaces and communities in South Tyneside.
Supporting Voices is a volunteer run telephone support service. Within STARS it is aimed at people waiting to attend a comprehensive assessment. The conversation will consist of appointment information, with a possibility of signposting to other services and be supportive and motivational.

Details of the role / tasks
Making telephone calls to people who have had a triage and are waiting for a comprehensive assessment. The purpose of the call is to promote recovery and motivate an individual to attend their comprehensive assessment. The call may involve signposting to other services, referring to colleagues within STARS and providing general information. It is not a crisis service and there will be no incoming calls.

To be able to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week
To be able to attend a 3 day training course (dates arranged with successful applicants)

Appointment into the role will be subject to the successful completion of the 3 day Supporting Voices training package.
Closing date for applications is Friday 7th June with interviews taking place on Monday 17th June. Training dates will be arranged with those successful at interview.
