This is a new, exciting service for Humankind. Led by Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV), Humankind and Spectrum Community Health CIC will provide liaison and diversion services across North Yorkshire. The all age liaison and diversion service, will offer assessment, advice and support for people who come into contact with the criminal justice system and are experiencing mental health problems, have a learning disability or other complex needs. The service will also support staff within the criminal justice system with advice and signposting.
Humankind will deliver the community-based through-care and follow-up element of the service, including peer support engagement, to ensure people are able to access and engage with local services and resources to meet their individual needs. The new service will commence across North Yorkshire on 1st April. As part of our committed and enthusiastic team we are looking to recruit a full time peer mentor and volunteer co-ordinator.
Main duties of the role include:
• Leading all elements of the service’s peer mentor apprenticeships and volunteer programmes, working collaboratively with service colleagues to meet service needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of peer mentor apprenticeships and volunteers.
• Management of peer apprentices and volunteers and their relationships with service staff, service users, families and other organisations. This will include monitoring, supporting, evaluating and accrediting ambassadors and volunteers.
• Promoting and maintaining effective, collaborative relationships with community services promoting access for service users to volunteering opportunities, in addition to service volunteering opportunities
