Gender-specific Criminal Justice Worker

This position has now closed. Why not check out our current jobs or volunteer positions.

In June 2018 we re-branded from DISC to Humankind and over the last 12 months we have developed a new 5-year strategy outlining our ambitious plans for the future. To help us achieve these ambitions, we are recruiting for a part-time Gender-specific Bank Worker for our team.  We are motivated to help those hardest to reach realise their full potential.

The Gender-specific Criminal Justice service is delivered by Humankind across North Yorkshire and York. Delivering evidence-based, gender-specific interventions for women service users of the Humberside, Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire Community Rehabilitation Company (HLNY CRC), the National Probation Service (NPS) and North Yorkshire Police, the service aims are to:

Increase the quality and effectiveness of services for women service users

Increase the number of those desisting from offending

Lead to improved positive outcomes for women service users and their dependents

A permanent vacancy has arisen within this service for a Gender-specific Bank Worker working across the delivery region. The Gender-specific Criminal Justice Worker will be an integral member of a small dynamic team, developing and delivering comprehensive and tailored individual interventions that will include delivery of a full range of structured, one to one and group support to women referred to the service.

The project is funded by North Yorkshire Police and HLNY CRC on the basis that women service users within the criminal justice system require a bespoke service to respond appropriately to their needs. The evidence base for this is that women respond better in women-only environments. All CRC’s are contractually obliged to offer all women a woman Case Manager, the option of being interviewed in a women-only environment and where possible to provide women-only placements and accredited programmes. (based in part upon Baroness Corston’s report, 2007).

As this project is specifically commissioned under this agenda and runs from women-only hubs, this precludes the appointment of a male member of staff.
