Custody Resettlement Worker - Cumbria
Humankind provide a range of housing-related support services, advice and guidance to help people obtain accommodation and progress towards a sustained independent lifestyle in the community. We work with a wide variety of clients, often with histories including substance misuse, offending, mental ill health and homelessness, to overcome barriers and achieve social inclusion. An opportunity has arisen for 2 Custody Resettlement Workers to join our expanding Cumbria Offender Services (COS) team.
1. Ideally, you will have experience of working with criminal justice agencies and of supporting prisoners to maintain / obtain accommodation, to reduce the risk of homelessness on prison release. In addition, experience of supporting people to maximise income, increase financial inclusion, and improve perceptions of health and wellbeing, would be desirable.
2. You will work with prisoners to prepare a Resettlement Plan on their arrival and a Pre-Release plan near sentence end. You will work closely with other agencies including prison staff, Offender Managers, housing providers and community services and participate in multi-agency meetings. You will adopt an asset-based approach and work positively to support clients to plan and build healthier and more fulfilling lives on release.
You will need a full driving licence and the use of a car for this post.
