Humankind’s Independent Living Unit provides a range of housing-related support services, advice and guidance to help people obtain accommodation and progress towards a sustained independent lifestyle in the community. 
We work with a wide variety of clients, often with histories including substance misuse, offending, mental ill health and homelessness, to overcome barriers and achieve social inclusion. 
The opportunity has arisen to join our new Barnsley Complex Needs service - ‘Thrive Barnsley’ as a Project Worker. The service will support adults, aged 25 or over, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to resettle in the community.  
The post holder will work as part of a wider team to provide housing-related support to assist with the prompt resettlement of clients into more permanent accommodation.
The role calls for strong working relationships with a range of accommodation and community support stakeholders and as such the ability to establish effective working relationships with external agencies. 
In addition, the post holder should have excellent knowledge of the housing options available for clients with complex needs and an understanding of the welfare benefits system.
You must be able to work flexibly as you will be expected to work various shifts as part of this role, which may include days, evenings and weekend work. More information on the rota can be obtained at the interview stage.
