Role title HOPE ( Health Outreach Prevention Education) Support Volunteer- Barnsley

Brief description of project
Barnsley Recovery Steps offers a range of free, confidential and non-judgmental services for adults aged 18+ and their families whose lives are affected by drugs and/or alcohol. Our aim is to support people to stay safe and live happier, healthy lives, free from drugs and alcohol.
Details of Role (Tasks)
To support the HOPE team deliver a range of interventions promoting the harm reduction agenda
To support in developing, planning and attending events and information sessions in business and community settings
Inform the local community of the services Barnsley Recovery Steps offer
Raise awareness of the routes into treatment and referral process to service users and professionals
To promote Barnsley Recovery Steps and the treatment options available
Deliver harm reduction interventions in an outreach setting to vulnerable individuals
Engage with individuals offering advice and information that allows informed choice
Signposting to relevant services/agencies

 

 

 

 

Personal Qualities
Knowledge of substance misuse and related issues
Understanding and empathic of others with a non-judgmental  approach
Ability to work to instruction and on own initiative
Honest and reliable
Committed to attending mandatory training, workshops and regular supervision
Commit to one day a week with a flexible approach.
Confident communication and computer skills
To adhere to  policies and procedures of the organization
Willing to complete a DBS
